RESOLUTION NO. ~(rb- ~'S7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING APPROVAL OF A CITY-WIDE
STREETSCAPE CONCEPT PLAN, AND SCHEMATIC PLANS
FOR COLLINS AVENUE; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING CITY
COMMUNITY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
MARLA DUMAS TO INITIATE REVIEW OF THE COLLINS
AVENUE PLANS AND NEGOTIATIONS WITH ALL
APPROPRIATE PARTIES AND THE FLORIDA DEPARMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, a number of basic planning studies were undertaken in order to address the
working project identified by the Mayor and Commission, including a visioning process for
preparation of a Streetscape Master Plan and development of schematic plans for Collins
A venue; and
WHEREAS, the consulting firm of Bermello & Ajamil were engaged to formulate and
develop these plans and strategies; and
WHEREAS, the consultant was requested to address aesthetic issues and safety in
developing these plans; and
WHEREAS, Bermello & Ajamil has completed these plans and presented them at
commumity meetings and Commission workshops; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Community Planning and Development has requested
approval in concept of the Streetscape Master Plan and the schematic plans for Collins Avenue
and authorization to initiate review, build consensus and develop plans for Collins Avenue with
appropriate parties and the Florida Department of Transportation;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AS FOLLOWS:
1. Approval in concept is authorized for the Streetscape Master Plan as prepared by
Bermello & Ajamil.
2. Approval in concept is authorized for the schematic plans for Collins Avenue as prepared
by Bermello & Ajamil.

3. The Community Planning and Development Director Marla Dumas is hereby authorized
to enter into negotiations with the necessary parties and the Florida Department of
Transportation to initiate review, build consensus and develop plans for Collins Avenue
that meet all aesthetic and safety concerns.
4. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of July, 2000.
