RESOLUTION NO. 2000-k-=1-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING
A DONATION OF THIRTY ONE THOUSAND NINE
HUNDRED TWENTY -SIX DOLLARS ($31,926.00) FROM
THE FAY PARKIN FOUNDATION TO BE UTILIZED BY
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF
TEN (10) HEART DEFIBRILLATORS; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THING NECESSARY
TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, heart defibrillators have been proven to aid In the resuscitation of
individuals experiencing cardiac arrest; and
WHEREAS, the presence of heart defibrillators in patrol cars would assist the Sunny
Isles Beach Police Department in its mission to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents of
the City; and
WHEREAS, in its generosity and through its benefactor Norman S. Edelcup, the Fay
Parkin Foundation wishes to donate the amount of Thirty-One Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-
Six Dollars ($31,926.00) to the City of Sunny Isles Beach for the purchase of ten (10) heart
defibrillators.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Acceptance of Donation. The City Commission hereby accepts a donation, in the
amount of Thirty-One Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-Six Dollars ($31,926.00), from the Fay
Parkin Foundation for the express purpose of purchasing ten (10) heart defibrillators.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this resolution.

Dear Jonathon,
Please be advised that I am instructing my broker, Smith
Barney to transfer and deliver 285 shares of Walgreen common
stock to the Fay Parken Foundation, Account # 31128856 c/o
Robert W. Baird & Co.
This grant of stock is valued at approximately $10,000
based on the closing price as of last Friday ($.34.25).
As we have previously discussed, the Fay Parken Foundation
will donate these funds to the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Fl.
for the purchase of portable heart defibrillators for the Police
Department vehicles. Based upon our discussions this donation
should provide three such units.
By copy of this letter I am hereby notifying Mayor David
Sampson of this dontation. Please let Richard Schulman know
when you next have coffee and donuts with him. He deserves
credit for getting the two of us together in order to make
this donation to the City.
