RESOLUTION NO. 2000-..ll#-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF
"GOVERNMENT DAY IN SUNNY ISLES BEACH" FOR STUDENTS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, there has been a declining interest in elections and a growing cynicism about
government in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach would like to contribute
to the encouragement and development of future community leaders, and to motivate our younger
citizens to become active in civic affairs;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission supports the creation of a "Government Day In Sunny Isles
Beach" for students and authorizes the City Manager to initiate such a pilot project.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
