A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO PURCHASE THREE (3) MOTORCYCLES AT A
COST OF $15,300.00 PER VEHICLE, PLUS RELATED
ACCESSORY EQUIPMENT TOTALLING $11,087.09 FOR THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Police Motorcycles are a proven effective aspect of law enforcement and the
Police Department has only two (2) motorcycle units to use to combat crime; and
WHEREAS, these motorcycle units are leased and are scheduled to be returned to the dealer
at the end of the lease agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police requests approval from the City Commission for the City
Manager to purchase three (3) motorcycles from Harley Davidson of Miami, L.C.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The purchase of three (3) motorcycles, in an amount not to
exceed $15,300.00 per vehicle, plus related accessory equipment, in an amount not to exceed
$11,087.09, for a grand total of $56,987.09 is hereby approved.
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager and/or his designee are authorized to
negotiate a contract for the purchase of three (3) motorcycles and related police accessory equipment
in the amounts stated above. Provided the contract is approved as to form and legal sufficiency by
the City Attorney, the City Manager is further authorized to execute the contract and to do all other
things necessary to effectuate same.
Section 3. This resolution shall be effective upon adoption.
