RESOLUTION NO. 2001-32.2-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS WATERFRONTS
FLORIDA PROGRAM TO, AMONG OTHER THINGS, ASSIST IN THE
REVITALIZATION EFFORT FOR THE SUNNY ISLES BOULEVARD
WATERFRONT AREA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS
DESIGNEE TO TAKE ANY ACTION NECESSARY WITH RESPECT TO
THE OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT MONIES AS
APPROPRIATE WITHOUT FURTHER APPROVAL OF THIS
COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a notification of funding availability from the Waterfronts Florida Program of
the Department of Community Affairs was received indicating that these funds if awarded are
primarily for technical assistance, educational and advocacy programs directed at waterfront
communities in need of planning and then implementing community revitalization efforts; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has identified the waterfront area along Sunny
Isles Boulevard as a revitalization area, recognized the need to initiate economic development efforts
in this area and awarded several consultant contracts to assist in these efforts; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager wishes to apply for and receive a grant from the Department
of Community Affairs Waterfronts Florida Program in an effort to ensure the success of the Sunny
Isles Boulevard revitalization effort based on the technical assistance and expertise this program can
provide; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to grant the Manager and/or his designee any
authorization necessary to apply for and distribute such grant monies as appropriate;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. Authority to Apply For and Accept Grant. The City Manager and/or his designee is
hereby authorized to apply for and accept a grant from the Department of Community Affairs
Waterfronts Florida Program.

2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager and/or his designee, is hereby
authorized to take any action necessary to obtain and to distribute such grant monies, as
appropriate, without further approval ofthis Commission.
3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
