HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2001-337 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-33:1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AWARDING A BID TO BROWN AND BROWN/COREGIS INSURANCE GROUP, FOR COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE AND BROKERAGE SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD BID TO SAID COMPANY AND NEGOTIATE INSURANCE AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City noticed Request for Proposals No. 01-03-01 for qualified Insurance Brokers capable of providing comprehensive scope of services, which bids were opened on May 18, 2001; and WHEREAS, the City performed an exposure analysis of the current insurance program and found that the City needed to improve its insurance coverage in the area of defending public officials, police officers, and general liability due to the growth of services in the City; and WHEREAS, five brokers responded with only two brokers providing insurance company quotations; and WHEREAS, the two brokers were Brown & BrownfCoregis Insurance Company and the Mack Group/St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company, and both insurance companies are rated "A" by A.M. Best Rating Service; and WHEREAS, the following coverages which are attached as Exhibit "A" were presented in the approximate amounts to the City of Sunny Isles Beach by Brown & BrownfCoregis Insurance Group: . Comprehensive Insurance and Brokerage Services 6/15/01 12:10 PM 1 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. reference. Incorporation of Recitals. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein by Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award the bid to Brown & BrownlCoregis Insurance Company, to negotiate an agreement with the insurance carrier providing that the City Attorney review such agreement for form and legal sufficiency. Section 3.. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
