HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2001-352 RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 352 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN ALL REQUIRED CONTRACTS, AGREEMENTS, AND PURCHASE ORDERS THAT MAY AFFECT THE HEALTH, SAFETY, OR WELFARE OF THE CITY, AND TO TEMPORARILY RENEW EXISTING CONTRACTS WHICH MAY EXPIRE, FOR FORTY-FIVE (45) DAYS, FROM THE LAST COMMISSION MEETING IN JULY 2001, UNTIL THE FIRST REGULAR CITY COMMISSION MEETING IN SEPTEMBER 2001, SUBJECT TO RATIFICATION BY THE CITY COMMISSION AT ITS FIRST REGULAR MEETING IN SEPTEMBER 2001; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission are not scheduled to meet between the last meeting in July 2001 and the first meeting in September 2001; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to assign certain powers to the City Manager to sign all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that may affect the health, safety or welfare of the City, subject to later ratification by the City Commission; and WHEREAS, there may be existing contracts which may expire and require renewal during the time between the last Commission meeting in July 2001 and the first regular meeting in September 2001 which should receive Commission approval for renewal or for extension period of time; and WHEREAS, the City Manager will report back to the City Commission, at the first meeting in September 2001, seeking after-the-fact ratification of any actions relating to the afore stated authorizations. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to sign all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that may affect the health, safety, or welfare of the City, and to temporarily renew any existing contracts for forty-five (45) days that may be required to be renewed, from the last City Commission meeting in July 2001 until the first regular City Commission meeting in September 2001, subject to ratification by the City Commission at its first regular meeting in September 2001. Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. R2001- Contract Authorization During Summer Recess 1 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 31st day of July, 2001.
