TO: The Commission, City Manager, and Mayor of Sunny Isles Beach
FROM: Fred Maas, Chief of Police
DATE: September 20,2001
SUBJECT: Purchase of Police Equipment from approved Police Facilities Impact
Fees.
Recommendation:
That the City Commission approve the expenditure of approximately $8,331.00 to
SPG. Special Products Group, from Police Facility Impact Fees, for the approved
purchase of capital equipment for police department, including 50 sets of web gear
holsters, gun belts and related belt equipment.
Reasons:
Related to the use of a firearm is the companion, gear or equipment including gun
belt, holster, magazine and related equipment. The gear that has been selected is a
lightweight, yet durable web gear that is proven to be more comfortable, less injurious
to the officer, more durable creating longer and more efficient use. Additionally,
almost all gear utilized is now over 3 years old and is in need of replacement.
Additional Information:
The proper procurement procedures have been followed. SPG offers the same
equipment as other vendors at the lowest bid price.
Sincerely,
~Q,~
Fred A. Maas
