A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND FUNDS FROM THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, LOCAL
BLOCK GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000.00 IN LOCAL
GRANT FUNDS WITH A CITY CASH MATCH OF $1,588.95;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has an active and growing policing unit that
is seeking to protect the health, safety and welfare of its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Local Grant Funds has a
grant in the amount of$lO,OOO.OO available along with matching City funds of$1,588.95, for the
purchase of a variety of undercover drug surveillance equipment and software and has invited
the City to apply for the funding; and
WHEREAS, using funds provided from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement,
Local Block Grant, would enhance the ability of the Police Department's Investigative Services
Division to conduct more complex and sophisticated investigations while tracking suspect's
activities and capturing important and valuable evidence for court presentation and prosecution.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization ofthe Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for,
receive and expend funds from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Local Block Grant
in the Amount of $10,000.00 in local grant funds with a City cash match of $1,588.95, for the
purchase of drug surveillance equipment and software.
Section 2.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effect' e upon adoption.
