RESOLUTION NO. 2002- If 27
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, INSTRUCTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
TRANSMIT A CITY FLAG TO TALLAHASSEE TO BE DISPLAYED
ANNUALLY IN THE STATE CAPITOL DURING DADE DA YS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach takes great pride in our City flag which Mayor
David Samson presented at the City Commission meeting on February 26, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the City flag combines the City seal with the City slogan on a white flag with
gold fringe, and has been displayed at City Hall since its introduction; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission now desires the City Manager to transmit a copy of the
City flag to Tallahassee to be displayed annually in the State Capitol with other municipal flags
during Dade Days.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Instruction to City Manager. The City Manager is hereby instructed to transmit a
copy of the City flag to Tallahassee to be displayed annually in the State Capitol during Dade Days.
Section 2.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of March, 2002.

It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached Resolution.

In February, 2002, a delegation from the City of Sunny Isles Beach attended the Miami -Dade
County Days, 2002, at the State Capitol in Tallahassee. On display, in the lobby of the Capitol, were
municipal flags for every municipality in Miami -Dade County except the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
This Resolution, therefore, formally authorizes the City Manager to submit City's flag to the Miami -
Dade delegation in Tallahassee, so that it may be displayed among the other municipal flags at the
State Capitol for all subsequent Miami -Dade County Days.
