A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE PuRCHASE A CUSTOM-MADE LIFEGUARD
TOWER FOR TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS
($20,000.00), FROM THE CITY OF HOLLYWOOD;
PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE
AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City is planning to provide additional lifeguard services at the beaches
located within the City's limits; and
WHEREAS, with these additional lifeguard services comes the need for an additional,
centrally located lifeguard station; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is seeking to purchase a custom-made
lifeguard tower from the City of Hollywood at a price that is below the market price; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of products and services from another municipality is exempt
from the competitive bidding requirements under the City's procurement ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:

Section 2. Approval of Purchase. The purchase of a ..lifeguard stand for Twenty Thousand
Dollars ($20,000.00), from the City of Hollywood is hereby approved.
Section 3. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate the intent of this resolution.
Section 4.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

PURCHASE OF LIFEGUARD TOWER (STAND)
RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution authorizing the
purchase of a lifeguard tower (stand) from the City of Hollywood.
REASONS
The City desires to provide lifeguard services at the Oceanfront Park, in addition to that which
the Newport provides at the Pier Park, for the safety of residents and visitors. With the provision
of these additional lifeguard services comes the need for an additional, conveniently located, and
appropriately sized lifeguard tower. The City of Hollywood has a new, surplus lifeguard tower
that is of the design that we desire, which is being offered at their cost of Twenty Thousand
Dollars ($20,000.00).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The lifeguard tower for sale is new and will serve our purposes well. However, the tower will
receive a few minor upgrades to customize it to match the roof design of our pavilion. Also, this
lifeguard tower is spacious and provides adequate room for storage of equipment and for the
potential of future growth.
Lastly, this tower is being purchased from another municipality, in accordance with our
competitive bidding requirements under our procurement ordinance.
