A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
APPLY FOR, RECEIVE, AND EXPEND FUNDS FROM A FLORIDA
RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (FRDAP)
GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, IN AN AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED
FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS, ($150,000.00), WITH THE CITY
PROVIDING MATCHING FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT OF THIRTY-SEVEN
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($37,500.00), REPRESENTING
THE REQUIRED 25% MATCH, TO DEVELOP THE ACTIVE PARK
LOCA TED AT 181 - 182 DRIVE AND NORTH BAY ROAD, TO INCLUDE
PUBLIC RESTROOMS AND ADDITIONAL LANDSCAPING;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE, AND
EXPEND FUNDS, AS APPROPRIATE, WITHOUT FURTHER APPROVAL
OF THIS COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) provides
grants to governmental entities for the acquisition or development of land for public recreational
uses, in an amount of up to $200,000 (based on the project cost); and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to develop and improve recreational amenities at the Active
Park located at 181-182 Drive and North Bay Road, to include public restrooms and additional
landscaping, for the benefit of its residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, obtainment of a FRDAP grant would assist the City to realize such
development and improvement at the Active Park; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of applying for grant money for the
aforementioned project.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authority to Apply For, Receive, and Expend Funds from a Grant. The City Manager
is authorized to apply for, receive, and expend funds from a FRDAP grant, in an amount of One
Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000), with matching funds from the City in an amount of
Thirty-Seven Thousand, Fi ve Hundred Dollars ($37,500.00) to develop and improve the recreational
amenities at the Active Park located at 181-182 Drive and North Bay Road, to include public
restrooms and additional landscaping, as appropriate.
Section 2,
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
