A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE SEPTEMBER
10, 2002 BALLOT INITIATIVE TO AMEND THE MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY CHARTER TO NAME THE INDEPENDENT SPECIAL
DISTRICT FOR CHILDREN'S SERVICES "THE CHILDREN'S TRUST"
HA VING AUTHORITY AS SET FORTH IN SAID BALLOT ISSUE; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Miami-Dade County have scheduled
a countywide Special Election to be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2002, for the purpose of
submitting to the voters of Miami-Dade County the question of whether to amend the Miami-
Dade County Charter to name the Independent Special District for Children's Services "The
Children's Trust".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:

Incorporation of Recitals. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein by
Section 2. Expression of Support. The Mayor and City Commission of the City of Sunny
Isles Beach hereby expresses its support of passage of the Miami-Dade County Charter amendment
to name the Independent Special District for Children's Services "The Children's Trust" and the
authorities as set forth in this ballot initiative.
Section 3. Urge Citizens to Vote. The Mayor and City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles
Beach urge all responsible citizens to exercise their right to vote on the issues presented in the
upcoming September 10, 2002 election and to vote in favor of The Children's Trust Charter
amendment.
Section 4. Authorization to City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed to provide a copy of
this Resolution to each of the Miami-Dade County municipalities, to the Miami-Dade County
Board of Commissioners, and to Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas.
Section 5. Effective Date. This Resolution becomes effective upon adoption.
