A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXPEND THE SUM OF TWENTY-TWO THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED
EIGHTY DOLLARS ($22,680.00) FOR AN ENGINEERING STUDY BY
FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT FOR THE UNDERGROUNDING OF THE
ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION LINES; PROVIDING THE CITY
MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY
TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to convert the entire distribution
overhead electrical lines to underground in the City; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has negotiated with Florida Power and Light
to provide an engineering study for the undergrounding of the electrical lines; and
WHEREAS, Florida Power and Light has submitted a proposal for Project 1 of the
Distribution Overhead to Underground Conversion Project, which is attached hereto as Exhibit
"A".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Approval of Ex{>enditures. The City Manager is hereby authorized to expend
Twenty- Two Thousand Six Hundred Eighty Dollars ($22,680.00) for an engineering study for
Project 1 of the Distribution Overhead to Underground Conversions Project, attached as Exhibit
"A".
Section 2., Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of October, 2002.

Recommendation: Divide the City into thirteen individual projects.
Project #1: Northern limits of City. Terracina Ave. Collins Ave from 189 5t north.
Atlantic Blvd from 185 5t to 191 S1. .
Project #2: Collins Ave from 189 5t south to #17975 (address).
Project #3: Atlantic Blvd from 183 5t south to 178 51.
Project #4: East side Collins Ave from #17975 south to #17501.
Project #5: East side Atlantic Blvd from 178 5t south to 175 Terr.
Project #6: West side Collins Ave from 17700 Blk south to 172 St.
Project #7: East side Collins Ave from #17501 south to 171 51.
Project #8: 172 5t from Collins Ave west to North Bay Road.
Project #9: West side Collins Ave from 172 5t south to #16800.
Project #10: SR 826 from Collins Ave west to Intracoastal Waterway.
Project #11: Atlantic Ave from Collins Ave west to hitracoastal Waterway.
Project #12: Both sides Collins Ave from Atlantic Ave to south City limit.

Project Phases
Each project will commence upon receipt of an engineering deposit of $22,680.
Each project will consist of the following phases.
PHASE'
Estimated time frame: 2 months
~ Field work
~ Submit proposed easement areas to the city. The city is responsible to
communicate with the property owners and describe and secure the
easements from the property owners.
~ Ballpark estimate provided to the city.
PHASE II
Estimated time frame: 4 months
~ City to commence Outreach Plan with Residents
~ City to submit all Recorded Easements
)> City to collect customer approval letters
)> Communication between City and FPL is key in case design chan'ges based
on customer requests.
)> Detail design is performed
)> Firm estimate provided to the City
~ Permits obtained (DOT f City)
PHASE III
Estimated time frame: 1 months
~ FPL begins Outreach Plan with Customers
PHASE IV
Estimated time frame: 4 months
~ Construction phase
~ FPL Outreach Plan to continue _
