A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING THE INTENTION TO EXHUME A
TIME CAPSULE FROM THE TRUMP PALACE IN 2047 UPON THE 50TH
ANNIVERSARY OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH; PROVIDING
FOR THE CREATION OF A PUBLIC DISPLAY OF THE CONTENTS IN
CITY HALL; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WIm THE AUTHORITY
TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE TIDS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Michael and Oil Dezer are well respected in South Florida as hoteliers,
developers, and philanthropists and they have shown a commitment to significantly enhancing
community awareness of the beauty, value and business opportunities in Sunny Isles Beach;
and
WHEREAS, Donald J. Trump, and Michael and Oil Dezer as the "Trump Dezer
Development" are bringing international acclaim to the City through the Trump Grande
Ocean Resort and Residences and through the construction of a 55-story Luxury
Condominium Residential Tower to be known as the Trump Palace; and
WHEREAS, while the foundation for the new Trump Palace is being poured on
October 11, 2002, a time capsule will be placed within the structure; and
WHEREAS, the time capsule will be opened on the 50th anniversary of the City in
2047, and its contents of letters and thoughts from its citizens and dignitaries will then be
returned to the City for display in City Hall.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Public Display of the Contents of Time Capsule. In 2047 on the 50th Anniversary
of the City, the time capsule located in the Trump Palace shall be exhumed and its contents shall
be placed on public display in City Hall.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of October, 2002.
