RESOLUTION NO. 2003 - ~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING A COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE
IN HONOR OF MAYOR DAVID SAMSON TO BE PLACED IN THE LOBBY
OF THE NEW CITY HALL AND DESIGNATING THE CITY COMMISSION
CHAMBERS AS THE DAVID SAMSON CHAMBERS; PROVIDING THE
CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is the intent of this City Commission to honor David Samson as the first
Mayor and founding father ofthe City of Sunny Isles Beach, by placing a plaque in his honor in the
City Hall under construction at the time of the passage ofthis Resolution.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Creation of Commemorative Plaque and Naming Chambers. The City Commission
hereby expresses its intent to have a plaque designed to commemorate David Samson as the
founding father ofthe City of Sunny Isles Beach to be placed in the lobby ofthe new City Hall to be
located at 18050 Collins Avenue and to have the City Commission Chambers be designated as The
David Samson Chambers.
Section 2. Authority of the City Manager. The City Commission hereby provides the City
Manager with the authority to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution,
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED and ADOPTED on this 20th day of February, 2003.
