HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2003-586 RESOLUTION NO. 2003- 58G, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A HOST SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AND TEL-AIR INTERESTS, INC., AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO HOST THE MISS FLORIDA TEEN USA PAGEANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000.00); AUTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is committed in promoting this beautiful City; and WHEREAS, Tel-Air Interests, Inc., has invited the City of Sunny Isles Beach to be the official host and location of the Miss Florida USA 2004 Pageant to be telecast in November, 2003, in the amount of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00); and WHEREAS, being the Host City for the Pageant is mutually beneficial to our residents and visitors, and will showcase the City in a family friendly environment on a local and international level. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Host Sponsorship Agreement. The City Commission hereby approves the Host Sponsorship Agreement between the City and Tel-Air Interests, Inc., in the amount of $15,000.00. Section 2. Authorization of Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said Agreement. Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this resolution. Section 4. Effective Date. REASONS: The 'Miss Florida Teen' Pageant is seeking a new location to showcase as the 'Host City'. As the 'Host City', Sunny Isles Beach will be presented throughout the event with two (2) mini- documentaries and three (3) billboards included in the Opening, Mid Show Break and Show Close as well as one (1) full page ad in the official Miss Florida Teen USA program book. Additionally,as the Host City, the city will be granted five (5) personal appearances per year with Miss Florida Teen USA for civic events, charitable functions, festivals and fairs. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Miss Florida Teen USA pageant is televised throughout the State of Florida on The Miss Florida Teen USA network of stations and is also syndicated throughout the Caribbean,South and Central America as well as portions of Europe and Asia. It is an opportunity to showcase the city in a family friendly environment on a local and international level. The pageant itself will attract the families and friends of the contestants to our immediate area which would be beneficial to the business owners of our city. Agenda Item Date
