A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
ESTABLISHING FIVE (5) ADVISORY COMMITTEES TO
THE MA YOR'S ADVISORY COUNCIL (M.A.C.);
PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A CHAIR OF
EACH COMMITTEE AS THE LIAISON TO THE CITY
COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR THE SELECTION OF
COMMITTEE MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR ANNUAL
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS; PROVIDING FOR THE
TERMINATION OF COMMITTEES; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4.3 of the City Charter, the City Commission has the
authority to create advisory committees; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to establish advisory committees to
serve the citizens of Sunny Isles Beach and on which the citizens may serve and secure input
from the citizenry; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission have the desire to create the following
advisory committees which comprise the Mayor's Advisory Council (M.A.C.): (1)
Transportation and Traffic Control; (2) Education/Schools; (3) Community Safety and Welfare;
(4) Tourism and Development, and (5) Long Range Planning and Intergovernmental Relations.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISISON
OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Establishment of Advisory Committees. The City Commission hereby creates the
following advisory Committees which comprises the Mayor's Advisory Council (M.A.C.):
(1) Transportation and Traffic Control; (2) Education/Schools; (3) Community Safety and
Welfare; (4) Tourism and Development; (5) Long Range Planning and Intergovernmental
Relations.
Section 2. Appointment of Chairperson. Pursuant to the City of Sunny Isles Beach Rules of
Procedure adopted by the City Commission, the Mayor shall appoint the chairperson of each
advisory committee and designate one Commissioner as liaison between the Committee and the
Commission. The Mayor may appoint a person as Chairperson to two (2) different committees.
Section 3. Appointment of Committee Members. Pursuant to the Rules of Procedure adopted
by the City Commission, each Commissioner shall appoint one (1) member to each advisory
committee. The names of each committee member shall be listed in Exhibit "A", attached
hereto.

(a) No person shall serve as Chairperson of more than two (2) Committees.
(b) No person shall serve on more than two (2) Committees.
(c) Should any appointee resign during the term of the Committee, the appointing
Commissioner may select another appointee.
(d) Members shall be appointed to serve for a one year term, but that term may be
renewed as often as desirable provided however, if the appointing Commissioner
is not re-elected or that Commissioner resigns, the newly seated Commissioner
has the option to discharge the appointee and select a new appointee or return the
prior appointee.
Section 4. Annual Reporting Requirements. The Committee shall provide the City
Commission with a written or oral report regarding the activities of the Committee within one
(1) year from the creation of a Committee.
Section 5. Termination of Committees. The City Commission has the authority to create
and/or terminate any Committee at anytime.
Section 6. Rules of Procedure. Each Committee created under this resolution shall be
governed by the Rules of Procedure that govern the City Commission, and subject to Florida
Sunshine and Public Records Law.
Section 7. Repealer. All previously approved committees are hereby dissolved.
Section 8. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption and the Committees shall be approved at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
