ESTABLISHED THROUGH RESOLUTION NO. 2004-644, A TT ACHED AS EXHIBITS "A" AND "B"; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4.3 of the City Charter, the City Commission has the authority to create advisory committees; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission created the following advisory committees through Resolution No. 2004-644 adopted on February 19, 2004, which comprise the Mayor's Advisory Council (M.A.C.): (1) Transportation and Traffic Control; (2) Education/Schools; (3) Community Safety and Welfare; (4) Tourism and Development, and (5) Long Range Planning and Intergovernmental Relations; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission desires to appoint members to each of these advisory committees listed below on the Resolution. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISISON OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Appointments to Advisory Committees. The City Commission hereby approves the appointments (individual appointments attached as Exhibit "A") to the following advisory Committees which comprises the Mayor's Advisory Council (M.A.C.): (1) Transportation and Traffic Control Committee: Liaison: Vice Mayor Gerry Goodman Chairperson: Cecile Sippin Members: Gene Sweed; Lee Liebman; George Berlin; George Newman (2) Education/Schools Committee: Liaison: Commissioner Lewis J. Committee members shall be governed by the terms of Resolution No. 2004-644 (attached as Exhibit "B"). Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 4.3 of the City Charter, the City Commission has the authority to create advisory committees; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to establish advisory committees to serve the citizens of Sunny Isles Beach and on which the citizens may serve and secure input from the citizenry; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission have the desire to create the following advisory committees which comprise the Mayor's Advisory Council (M.A.C.): (1) Transportation and Traffic Control; (2) Education/Schools; (3) Community Safety and Welfare; (4) Tourism and Development, and (5) Long Range Planning and Intergovernmental Relations. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISISON OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Establishment of Advisory Committees. The City Commission hereby creates the following advisory Committees which comprises the Mayor's Advisory Council (M.A.C.): (1) Transportation and Traffic Control; (2) Education/Schools; (3) Community Safety and Welfare; (4) Tourism and Development; (5) Long Range Planning and Intergovernmental Relations. Section 2. Appointment of Chait;person. Pursuant to the City of Sunny Isles Beach Rules of Procedure adopted by the City Commission, the Mayor shall appoint the chairperson of each advisory committee and designate one Commissioner as liaison between the Committee and the Commission. The Mayor may appoint a person as Chairperson to two (2) different committees. Section 3. Appointment of Committee Members. Pursuant to the Rules of Procedure adopted by the City Commission, each Commissioner shall appoint one (1) member to each advisory committee. The names of each committee member shall be listed in Exhibit "A", attached hereto. Appointment of subcommittees LegislationlResolution 1 (a) No person shall serve as Chairperson of more than two (2) Committees. (b) No person shall serve on more than two (2) Committees. (c) Should any appointee resign during the term of the Committee, the appointing Commissioner may select another appointee. (d) Members shall be appointed to serve for a one year term, but that term may be renewed as often as desirable provided however, if the appointing Commissioner is not re-elected or that Commissioner resigns, the newly seated Commissioner has the option to discharge the appointee and select a new appointee or return the prior appointee. Section 4. Annual Reporting Requirements. The Committee shall provide the City Commission with a written or oral report regarding the activities of the Committee within one (1) year from the creation of a Committee. Section 5. Termination of Committees. The City Commission has the authority to create and/or terminate any Committee at anytime. Section 6. Rules of Procedure. Each Committee created under this resolution shall be governed by the Rules of Procedure that govern the City Commission, and subject to Florida Sunshine and Public Records Law. Section 7. Repealer. All previously approved committees are hereby dissolved. Section 8. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption and the Committees shall be approved at the next regularly scheduled meeting.
