HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2004-664 RESOLUTION NO. 2004 - ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING ENTERING INTO A SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CITY OF NET ANY A, ISRAEL; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, sister city relationships are developed to increase global cooperation at the municipal level, promoting cultural understanding and stimulating economic development; and WHEREAS, Sister Cities International based in Washington, D.C., is the organization that formally recognizes sister city relationships worldwide; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to enter into a sister city relationship with Netanya, Israel, a coastal resort community similar to Sunny Isles Beach, and Netanya, Israel has expressed an interest in twinning with the City of Sunny Isles Beach. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval to Enter into a Sister City Relationship. The City Commission hereby approves entering into a sister city relationship with the City of Netanya, Israel. Section 2. Authority of the City Manager. The City Commission hereby provides the City Manager with the authority to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
