RESOLUTION NO. 2004- ~2
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR
THE CREATION OF A NORTH DADE REGIONAL COMMUNITY
RELATIONS BOARD; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board has been in existence
for forty years, representing various social, racial, religious, linguistic, cultural, economic,
national origin and geographic groups comprising the population of Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board is a respected diverse
group of prominent community leaders, with the authority to act independently to address issues
impacting on intergroup relations and to assist in their resolution; and

WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board's mISSIOn IS to
intervene and contain community tensions as quickly as possible, to identify and relieve
intergroup conflicts before a crisis arises, to develop bridges of understanding, to create new
Community Relations Boards, and to ensure resources for crisis response; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board would like to create a
new Community Relations Board for North Dade, consisting of the cities surrounding Sunny
Isles Beach, including A ventura, North Miami Beach, Golden Beach, and Bal Harbour; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is committed to the concept and supports the
creation of a North Dade Regional Community Relations Board.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Expression of Support. The Mayor and City Commission of the City of Sunny
Isles Beach hereby supports the creation of a North Dade Regional Community Relations Board
between the cities of Sunny Isles Beach, Aventura, North Miami Beach, Golden Beach and Bal
Harbour.
Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is authorized to do all things
necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of April, 2004.
