RE: PURCHASE OF STREETLIGHT POLES AND BRACKETS FOR NORTH BAY
ROAD (BETWEEN SR826 AND 172V0 STREET)
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution authorizing the
purchase of streetlight poles and brackets from Municipal Lighting Systems, Inc. ("Municipal
Lighting").
REASONS
Since incorporation, the City has undertaken numerous beautification improvement projects. We
would like to further continue these efforts with the placement of streetlight poles and fixtures that
are in compliance with our Streetscape Plan along North Bay Road, between SR826 and 172"d Street.
Two vendors, Municipal Lighting and Antareas Electrical Distributors, Inc ("Antareas"), will be used
to achieve this effect, as was done for 159'h Street and 174th Street.
Municipal Lighting has submitted a proposal for twenty-four (24) streetlight poles and brackets
(Columbia upright with a Boston Harbor arm), in an amount of Ninety-One Thousand Eight Hundred
Seventy-Seven Dollars ($91,877.00), and Antareas has submitted a proposal for twenty-four (24)
Holophane pole fixtures(teardrop style), in an amount of Sixteen Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty-Six
Dollars and Eighty Cents ($16,756.90). The total cost for the poles and fixtures is One Hundred
Eight Thousand Six Hundred Thirty-Three Dollars and Eighty Cents($108,633.80).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Municipal Lighting and Antareas are both sole source vendors for the items being purchased. This
alleviates us from having to go out to bid for these items; however, we will go out to bid for the
installation portion of this project.
