Home My WebLink AboutReso 2004-709 RESOLUTION NO. 2004 - .1lL'l A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF HOLOPHANE STREETLIGHT POLE FIXTURES FROM ANTAREAS ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTORS, INC., AS A SOLE SOURCE VENDOR, IN AN AMOUNT OF SIXTEEN THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY- SIX DOLLARS AND EIGHTY CENTS ($16,756.80), FOR NORTH BAY ROAD BETWEEN SR 826W AND 172ND STREET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in keeping with the City of Sunny Isles Beach Streetscape Plan, the City desires to replace the streetlight poles and fixtures along North Bay Road between SR 826W and 172nd Street, as they are currently poorly illuminated, under powered and improperly directed; and WHEREAS, Antareas Electrical Distributors, Inc., has been identified by the Administration as a "sole source" vendor to provide the Holophane streetlight pole fixtures desired by the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and WHEREAS, in conjunction with that effort the City wishes to purchase twenty-four (24) Holophane pole fixtures from Antareas Electrical Distributors, Inc., in an amount of Sixteen Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty-Six Dollars and Eighty Cents ($16,756.80). NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to purchase the Holophane streetlight pole fixtures from Antareas Electrical Distributors, Inc., in an amount of $16,756.80, and do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this resolution, Section 2. (SR826-172 ST.) RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approve the purchase of twenty-four (24) fight poles and metal halide fixtures to be placed on North Bay Road between SR826W and 172 Street. The light fixture quote is$16,756.80 and the single arm poles are $91,877.00.This order comes to a total of$108,633.00. (See attached quotes). REASONS: North Bay Road between the above locations is poorly illuminated. There is some lighting in the area which is under powered and improperly directed. This has prompted several calls to City Hall expressing concern.These upgrades are in keeping with the City Strectscape plan. We have previously ordered from the Halophane and Municipal lighting companies because they are a sole source for the style and design the City wants plus they have demonstrated their dependable service and excellent quality. Due to an aluminum shortage there will be a 3% cost increase in the pole order.
