BROAD BAY HARBOUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution. REASONS In 1998 the Town of Surfside, Village of Bal Harbour, and Town of Bay Harbor Islands created the Surf-Bal-Bay after school program at Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbour Elementary School. At that time the municipalities committed to making an annual donation to subsidize this program. Upon incorporation, the City of Sunny Isles Beach joined that partnership as many of our elementary students attend that school. The school has sent the customary letter requesting our donation, which has been set at fifteen thousand dollars($15,000.00) for each municipality. Edelcup, MayorI, r I DATE: December 9, 2004 RE: CONTRIBUTION TO RUTH K. BROAD BAY HARBOUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR BENCHES RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution. REASONS Currently, when students arrive in the morning at Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor Elementary School ("School") they must sit on the cold, concrete floor while they wait for their teachers to arrive and open classrooms. The School would like to place benches in its hallways for the students to sit on and has issued a plea for help with the purchase of these benches. The Mayor of Bay Harbour has forwarded that request to the City for assistance. The School is seeking a nominal donation of five hundred dollars ($500.00). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The demographics in Sunny Isles Beach are changing, and we are now sending more and more students to Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbour Elementary. These benches will provide a more suitable and comfortable seating arrangement for them. NSE/pw School-Rui I brad,Bench Donation Agcntla Memo Agenda Item 103 . Date I 2-09-Q`1
