A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE PURCHASE OF COMPUTERS FROM DELL, UNDER
FLORIDA STATE CONTRACT #250-000-03-1, IN A TOTAL
AMOUNT OF $38,704.95, ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE
TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is in need of replacing obsolete computers;
and
WHEREAS, Dell provided a quote under the State of Florida IT Hardware contract
#250-000-03-1 for the purchase of the required equipment, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", in an
total amount of Thirty Eight Thousand, Seven Hundred Four Dollars and Ninety-Five Cents
($38,704.95); and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to purchase such equipment from
Dell;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. Section 1. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
purchase from Dell the equipment listed in Exhibit "A", in an amount of $38,704.95, and to do
all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 4.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of December 2004.

Re: Purchase of new comnputers from DELL
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolutions.
Reasons:
The City has an aging inventory of computers that are quickly becoming obsolete. Quite a few of
the City's current computer systems are over four years old. I proposed to the City Manager that we
institute a three year replacement cycle for the City's computers. This purchase would be our initial
replacement of one-third of the City's computers.
The attached quotations have been provided under existing state contract (FL IT Hardware contract
#250-000-03-1), therefore this purchase is exempt from the competitive bidding process under the
City's purchasing ordinance.
