RESOLUTION NO. 2004- '150
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PLACEMENT OF AN AD IN
THE ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE'S COMMEMORATIVE JOURNAL, IN
AN AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00), HONORING
SANDRA AND BILL JOEL AND LILA AND GEORGE BERLIN;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY
TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Anti-Defamation League, created in 1913, to seek justice and fair treatment
for all citizens alike, established the Torch of Liberty Award to recognize outstanding individuals
who have exhibited humanitarian concerns; and
WHEREAS, the Anti-Defamation League, has announced that Sandra and Billy Joel and
Lila and George Berlin are this year's recipients of this prestigious Torch of Liberty Award, for their
exemplary and inspirational work, reflecting the goals and aspirations of the Anti-Defamation
League; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to place an ad in the Anti-Defamation
League's Commemorative Journal, in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), for the gala
dinner scheduled on February 26,2005.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Ad. Placement of ad in the Anti-Defamation League's Commemorative
Journal, in the amount of $500.00, honoring Sandra and Billy Joel and Lila and George Berlin, is
hereby approved.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of December, 2004.

RE: PLACEMENT OF AD IN ANTI-DEFAMATION LEAGUE'S
COMMEMORATIVE JOURNAL
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City
Manager to place an ad in the Anti-Defamation League's Commemorative Journal.
REASONS
The Anti-Defamation League has announced that Sandra and Billy Joel and Lila and George
Berlin are this year's recipients of the Torch of Liberty Award. These individuals are being
awarded this prestigious honor because of their exemplary and inspirational work, reflecting the
goals and aspirations of the Anti-Defamation League. Organizations are being asked to show
their support for this event and for the Anti-Defamation League's meaningful work in the
community by purchasing an ad.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Anti-Defamation League was created in 1913 to "seek justice and fair treatment for all
citizens alike." They established the Torch of Liberty Award to recognize outstanding
individuals who have exhibited humanitarian concerns and whose efforts bring together people
of all races,religions and ethnic backgrounds.
