RESOLUTION NO. 2005-~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING A TIME CAPSULE BE PLACED IN THE
DAVID P. SAMSON COMMISSION CHAMBERS AND
OPENED ON FEBRUARY 5, 2025; PROVIDING THE
CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach was incorporated on June 16, 1997 and its
past and present is now a matter of recorded history, and
WHEREAS, Richard C. Schulman, the City's Historian, has been gathering the City's
history through the collection of written articles, photographs, video filming of special events,
our local newspapers, magazines and important documents, all representing the past and present
history of our beautiful City; and
WHEREAS, "History" is defined as an account of what has happened in the life or
development of a people, country, institution, a systematic account, analysis or explanation of
recorded events of the past and present, important enough to be recorded; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires a Time Capsule be placed in the
David P. Samson Commission Chambers and opened on February 5,2025, in order to share our
past and present History with future generations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization for a Time Capsule. The City Commission authorizes a Time
Capsule be placed in the David P. Samson Commission Chambers behind the wall which bears
the City's Seal, and opened on February 5,2025.
Section 2 Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of May 2005.
