RESOLUTION NO. 2005- ~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A DONATION IN AN AMOUNT OF $4,660.00 (FOUR THOUSAND
SIX HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS) FROM THE SUNFLOWER SOCIETY
TO SPONSOR CHILDREN TO ATTEND THE CITY SUMMER DAY
CAMP PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach provides a fee-for-service for the City's
Summer Day Camp Program ("Program"); and
WHEREAS, there are some families who are in need of financial assistance to pay for
the cost of a child (or children) to attend the program; and
WHEREAS, Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization that wishes to provide
financial assistance to families whose child or children would otherwise not be able to attend the
City's Program due to financial constraints; and
WHEREAS, the Sunflower Society would like to select the children who will be the
recipient of its financial assistance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Incomoration of Recitals. The recitals contained in this resolution are
incorporated herein by reference.
Section 2. Approval of Acceptance. The City Commission hereby approves the acceptance
of the donation from the Sunflower Society in an amount of Four Thousand Six Hundred Sixty
Dollars ($4,660.00) to pay for the summer camp fees of children whose families in need of
financial assistance, on the condition that the Sunflower Society selects the children who will be
the recipient of its financial assistance.
Section 3. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 4.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Re: APPROVAL OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION FROM SUNFLOWER
SOCIETY FOR SPONSORSHIP OF SUMMER CAMP FEES
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution to approve e
acceptance of a donation in the amount of Two Thousand, Six Hundred Dollars ($2 0.00) from
Sunflower Society to sponsor summer day camp participants. yil.co,pp
REASONS:
Summer day camp is a fee for service program. Residents have inquired about reduced rates or
scholarship opportunities.
Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization that wishes to provide financial assistance to families
that would otherwise not be able to attend the city's day camp program due to financial constraints.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Sunflower Society will make the final determination as to the recipients of the donation.
