RESOLUTION NO. 2005- elite,
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
APPOINTING CHIEF FRED MAAS AS "INTERIM
CITY MANAGER" PENDING THE APPOINTMENT
OF A PERMANENT CITY MANAGER BY THE
COMMISSION; PROVIDING THE MAYOR AND
CITY ATTORNEY WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE
TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, our present City Manager, Christopher J. Russo, has submitted his
letter of resignation and will be departing on Monday, October 31, 2005; and
WHEREAS, via Resolution 2005-838 the City Commission has constituted a
blue-ribbon committee to recommend candidates for the position of City Manager; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has hired the search firm of Collin Baenziger
and Associates ("Consultant") to assist in this process; and
WHEREAS, the consultant anticipates the selection of a new City Manager will
not occur until December 2005; and
WHEREAS, the City is in need of an Interim City Manager from October 20,
2005 until such time as a permanent City Manager is appointed.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Appointment of Interim City Manager. The City Commission hereby
appoints Chief Fred Mass as "Interim City Manager" as of October 20, 2005 with a salary
increase of ten percent (10%) from his base salary.
Section 2. Authorization of Mayor and City Attorney. The Mayor and City Attorney
is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Agreement.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will be become effective upon adoption.
