RESOLUTION NO. 2005- <(3 'X:>
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING
A MOTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION TO WAIVE ANY
AND ALL CITY BUILDING PERMIT FEES FOR
PROPERTY OWNERS FOR EMERGENCY REPAIRS DUE
TO HURRICANE WILMA FOR A SIX MONTH PERIOD;
AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, October 26,2005, the City Commission held an Emergency
Commission Meeting to address the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma; and
WHEREAS, at that Emergency Meeting the City Commission stated their desire to
waive any and all City building permit fees for homeowners for emergency repairs due to
damage from Hurricane Wilma; and
WHEREAS, this waiver affects only those building permit fees and costs of the City, but
does not include those associated with any other entity, such as the County or State; and
WHEREAS, this resolution seeks to formalize and clarify the intentions and actions
verbalized by the City Commission at the Emergency Meeting of October 26, 2005, with respect
to the waiving of building permit fees for emergency repairs due to Hurricane Wilma for a six
month period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Waiving of Building Permit Fees. The City Commission hereby waives any and
all City building permit fees and costs for property owners for emergency repairs due to
Hurricane Wilma for a six month period. This waiver shall end on April 26, 2006. However,
property owners shall be responsible for any and all permit fees and costs associated with any
other government entity, such as the State or County.
Section 2. Authority of City Mana~er. The Interim City Manager is hereby authorized to do
all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
