RESOLUTION NO. 2005-~2-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE CONCEPTUAL PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION
OF ADDITIONAL LIGHTING AND PERIMETER
FENCING FOR TOWN CENTER PARK; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY
TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to upgrade the existing lighting and
augment the existing perimeter fencing at Town Center Park for the safety and welfare of its
citizens and visitors; and
WHEREAS, Town Center Park was turned over to the City on Friday, October 21,2005
and as such is the responsibility of the City; and
WHEREAS, these improvements are necessary to extend the park's operating hours to
include evening hours.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Conceptual Purchase and Installation. The City Commission hereby
approves the conceptual purchase and installation of additional lighting and perimeter fencing for
Town Center Park, located at 17200 Collins Avenue.
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of November 2005.

MEMORANDUM

Re: Conceptual Approval of Purchase and Installation of Additional Lighting and
Fencing for Town Center Park
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the
Interim City Manager or Designee to purchase and install additional lighting and fencing at the
Town Center Park, located at 17200 Collins Avenue.
REASONS
The Town Center Park was turned over to the City on Friday, October 21, 2005. As such, the
park is the City's responsibility. Staff has surveyed the park and found that the existing lighting
is inadequate to operate the park after sunset and that there are areas of the park that are not
fenced. Improvement of both of these deficiencies is necessary for the safety and well-being of
park patrons.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It is anticipated that the individual contracts for purchase and installation of lighting and fencing
will be over Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). Therefore, the actual contracts will be brought
before the City Commission for approval, in accordance with our purchasing procedures, at a
future meeting.
Lastly, the additional lighting and fencing design will be in conformity to the existing amenities.
