A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE
MAYORS' JOINT TASK FORCE ON TRANSPORTATION,
SUPPORTING THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO)
FUNDING FOR THE SOUTH FLORIDA EAST COAST
CORRIDOR TRANSIT ANALYSIS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, mayors and representatives from numerous cities, towns and villages in Miami-
Dade County, as well as County transportation officials, have joined together to form a joint task
force to address regional transportation issues; and
WHEREAS, several workshops held by the Northeast Miami Dade Mayors' Joint Task
Force on Transportation ("Task Force") have produced proposed solutions and areas needing further
discussion regarding many mutual problems and concerns; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach, in conjunction with the Task Force, strongly
supports the Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) funding for the South
Florida East Coast Corridor Transit Analysis, a 24-month study initiated in September 2005 to
analyze the feasibility of rapid transit along the Florida East Coast Railroad corridor from Jupiter to
Downtown Miami.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Support ofthe Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization Funding for
the South Florida East Coast Corridor Transit Analysis. The Mayor and Commission of the City of
Sunny Isles Beach, in conjunction with the Northeast Miami-Dade Mayors' Joint Task Force on
Transportation, hereby supports and encourages MPO funding and completion of the South Florida
East Coast Corridor Transit Analysis.
Section 2. Directive ofCitv Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed to send certified copies of
this Resolution to the Miami-Dade County Board of Commissioners and the Miami-Dade County
Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.

Re: Resolution Supporting the Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning
Organization (MPO) Funding for the South Florida East Coast Corridor Transit
Analysis
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution supporting the
Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) funding for the South Florida
East Coast Corridor Transit Analysis.
REASONS:
The mayors and representatives from numerous cities, towns and villages in Miami-Dade
County, as well as County transportation officials, have joined together to form the Northeast
Miami Dade Mayors' Joint Task Force on Transportation ("Task Force") to address regional
transportation issues. Several workshops held by the Task Force have produced proposed
solutions and areas needing further discussion regarding many mutual problems and concerns.
The Task Force has asked the City of Sunny Isles Beach to join them in supporting the Miami-
Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) funding for the South Florida East
Coast Corridor Transit Analysis. The Analysis is a 24-month study initiated in September 2005
to analyze the feasibility of rapid transit along the Florida East Coast Railroad corridor from
Jupiter to Downtown Miami.
