A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF COMPUTER
SERVERS, WORKSTATIONS, AND OTHER RELATED
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE FROM DELL FOR THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT, UNDER STATE OF FLORIDA IT
HARDWARE CONTRACT #250-000-03-1, IN A TOT AL
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY THOUSAND FOUR
HUNDRED EIGHTY-NINE DOLLARS AND FORTY-SIX
CENTS ($20,489.46), A TT ACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT
"A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF
THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department ("Depmiment") has been working
hard to upgrade and automate its processes and equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Department is seeking to implement a new state-of-the-art computer
aided dispatch and records management system ("System"); and
WHEREAS, the Department would like to purchase new computer servers, workstations,
and other related hardware and software, in order to realize the maximum benefits of the new
System; and
WHEREAS, Staff has requested a quote from Dell, a leader in the computer industry, for
said computer servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software; and
WHEREAS, Dell has provided a quote under the State of Florida IT Hardware Contract
#250-000-03-1 for the purchase of the computer servers, workstations, and other related
hardware and software, in a total amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-
Nine Dollars and Forty-Six Cents ($20,489.46), attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the City of SumlY Isles Beach desires to purchase said computer servers,
workstations, and other related hardware and software from Dell.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase
of computer servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software from Dell for the
Police Department, under State of Florida IT Hardware Contract #250-000-03-1, in a total
amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-Nine Dollars and Forty-Six Cents
($20,489.46), attached hereto as Exhibit "A", be, and the same, is hereby approved.

Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

At its regular meeting of May 18,2006, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2006-920,
which approved the purchase of computer servers, workstations, and other related hardware and

Approval to Purchase Servers, Workstations, and other Related Hardware and
Software from Dell
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving the purchase of
servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software from Dell for the Sunny Isles Beach
Police Department ("Department").
REASONS
The Department has been working hard to upgrade and automate its processes and equipment.
Specifically, the Department is seeking to implement a new state-of-the-art computer aided dispatch
and records management system ("system"). As such, the Department would like to purchase new
computer servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software, in order to realize the
maximum benefits of the new System.
Staff has requested a quote from Dell, a leader in the computer industry, for said computer servers,
workstations, and other related hardware and software. Dell has provided a quote under the State of
Florida IT Hardware Contract #250-000-03- I for the purchase of the computer servers, workstations,
and other related hardware and software, in a total amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Four
Hundred Eight-Nine Dollars and Forty-Six Cents ($20,489.46), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The implementation of the new automated system, coupled with the new servers, workstations, and
other related hardware and software, will help to serve the needs of the community more effectively.
Funds are available at this time for this purchase, and staff recommends purchase of said computer
servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software from Dell.
