HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2006-927 RESOLUTION NO. 2006- 9'2.1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION IN AN AMOUNT OF $4,500.00 (FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS) FROM SUNFLOWER SOCIETY TO SPONSOR CHILDREN TO ATTEND THE CITY SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach provides a fee for service summer day camp program; and WHEREAS, Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization that wishes to provide financial assistance to families that would otherwise not be able to attend the city's day camp program due to financial constraints; and \VHEREAS, there are families in need of this financial assistance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLO\VS: Section I. Approval of Acceptance. The City Commission hereby approves the acceptance of the donation from Sunflower Society in an amount of $4,500,00 (Four Thousand Five Hundred Dollars) to pay for the summer camp fees of families in need of financial assistance. Section 2, Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. May 18,2006 AFPROV AL OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION FROM SUNFLOWER SOOETI FOR SUM:MER CAMP SrnOLARSHIPS RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Gty Commission adopt the anached resolution to approve the acceptance of a donation in the amount of Four Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($4,500.00) from Sunflower Society to sponsor summer day camp panicipants. REASONS: Our summer camp is a fee for service program. Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization that wishes to provide financial assistance to families that would otherwise not be able to anend the city's day camp program due to financial limitations. There is an application process that all applicants must complete with Sunflower Society making the final detennination on all scholarships. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: By accepting this donation and applying it to the approved scholarships, 11 children will be afforded the opponunity to anend our summer camp program.
