A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE BASE COLOR OF TWO (2) NEW COMMUNITY
SHUTTLE BUSES THAT THE CITY IS PURCHASING
FROM A TLANTIC BUS SALES; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") desires to replace and upgrade two
(2) of the existing shuttle buses for the benefit and welfare of its citizens, visitors, and
employees; and
WHEREAS, on February 16, 2006 via Resolution No. 2006-884, the City Commission
approved the purchase of two (2) shuttle buses from Atlantic Bus Sales, piggy-backing Broward
County Mass Transit Contract Bid No. C8-04-173-FF, in the amount of $79, 690.00 for each bus,
for a total purchase amount of One Hundred Fifty-Nine Thousand Three Hundred Eighty Dollars
($159,380.00), with funding provided by the Miami-Dade County People's Transportation Plan

WHEREAS, the City Commission held a Workshop on March 16, 2006 to decide on the
base color and design of the two (2) shuttle buses and have determined that the base color of
each bus would be -h~~-\- b \ue,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Base Color of Shuttle Buses. The City Commission hereby approves
the base color of \ ~h-\- b\u.e.. for each of the two (2) shuttle buses from Atlantic Bus Sales
authorized for purchase via Resolution No. 2006-884.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of March 2006.

Resolution approving the base color of the Community Shuttle Buses
As instructed at the City Commission meeting on Thursday, March 16,2006, I presented each
elected official with paint samples and a re-design of the shuttle bus. The samples, with each
Commissioner's sign off, is attached for your file.
They were given a total of three paint color choices. Both Vice Mayor Brezin and Commissioner
Gerry Goodman voted for Color LN. Mayor Edelcup voted for Color LS. Commissioner Lew
Thaler voted for Color P3. Commissioner Danny Iglesias abstained.
Per these results, I have instructed Atlantic Bus Sales to paint the two new buses Color LN - Light
Blue Effect. Following the arrival of the new buses, the three current buses will be painted to match
the new buses. This project will come back to Commission for approval as it is expected to exceed
$10,000.00.
During the voting process, Vice Mayor Brezin requested that the phrase "Florida's Riviera" be
incorporated into the new design providing that we can get authority to use that phrase from the
City Attorney's office. She further requested that I poll the rest of the Commission while taking
their vote on the color. Of the four that voted on this issue, all of them agreed that they would like
to incorporate the phrase "Florida's Riviera" on the buses. Vice Mayor Brezin stated that she would
discuss a copyright of the phrase with the City Attorney.

APPROVAL OF COLOR AND DESIGN FOR COMMUNITY SHUTTLE
BUSES
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution to approve the color
and design of the shutde bus fleet.
REASONS
On 2/16/06 the City Commission approved the purchase of two new shutde buses and expressed a
desire to "change the look" of the Shutde Bus Fleet. A workshop was held to discuss the new
design options. Per that workshop, the consensus was to change the design of the fleet to

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The two shutde buses authorized for purchase on 2/16/06, via Resolution 2006-884, will be revised
to reflect the new design choice. The three remaining shutde buses will be re-painted and re-striped
to match the new buses. Approval for the work on these buses will come before the Commission at
a later date as it is expected to exceed $10,000.00.
