Home My WebLink AboutReso 2006-909 RESOLUTION NO. 2006- 91fl A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RA TIFYING THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF NINE (9) POLICE RADIOS AND WARNING EQUIPMENT FOR CITY VEHICLES, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FORTY-TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($42,185.00), A TT ACHED HERETO AS EXHIBITS "A" AND "B", RESPECTIVELY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department purchased nine (9) 2006 Ford Crown Victoria's and the vehicles now need to be equipped with police radios and warning equipment; and WHEREAS, staff piggybacked off from the City of Miami Contract Bid No. PDR 069626 for the purchase of police radios and warning equipment from Miami-Dade County Enterprise Technology Services Department, as the lowest most responsive, responsible bid, in the amount of Thirty Thousand Five Hundred Fifty-Five Dollars ($30,555.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A" ; and WHEREAS, this equipment needed to be installed in order for the nine (9) Police Department vehicles and two (2) Code Enforcement vehicles to be put into service; and WHEREAS, staff piggybacked off from the State of Florida Contract Bid No. 06- 0000723-001 for the installation of said equipment for City vehicles from Emergency Equipment Installation, Inc., as the lowest most responsive, responsible bid, in the amount of Eleven Thousand Six Hundred Thirty Dollars ($11,630.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "BOO; and WHEREAS, staff determined that the above charges were reasonable and customary for said purchase and installation and recommends that the Commission ratify the purchase and installation; and WHEREAS, funding in the total amount of $42, 185.00 for this project is available in the Police Department Budget Account #10-521.56452 and in the Code Enforcement Depm1ment Budget Account #10-524.5642. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ratifying the Purchase and Installation. The purchase and installation of nine (9) police radios and warning equipment for the Police and Code Enforcement Depm1ments, in the total amount of $42,185.00, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and "BOO respectively, be, and the same, is hereby ratified. R2006- Purchase & Installation of Police Radios Page I of2 Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Hines, City Clerk MEMORANDUM Honorable Mayor and City Commission John L. Rench~ Fleet Management Supervisor April 11, 2006 Approval for purchasing and installing police radios and warning equipment. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approve the purchase of police radios for nine newly purchased 2006 Ford Crown Victoria's from Miami-Dade County Enterprise Technology Services Department, 5680 S.W. 87th A venue, Miami FL 33173, at a cost of $30,555.00; and the installation of this equipment for the Police and two Code Enforcement vehicles by Emergency Equipment Installation, Inc. P.O. Box 352435, Miami, FL 33135, at a cost of$11,630.00. The total expenditure under this resolution would be $42.185.00 REASON: This equipment needs to be installed in order that the nine Police Department vehicles and two Code Enforcement vehicles can be put into service. The use of Miami-Dade County to supply the radios was through a piggy-back from the City of Miami contract bid number PDR 069626. The use of Emergency Equipment Installations was through a piggy-back from the State of Florida contract bid number 06-0000723-001. These purchases are in accordance with City Ordinance #62-6 and #62-7. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: These budgeted item expenditures are to be paid out of accounts 10-521.5642 for the Police Department and 10-524.5642 for Code Enforcement according to the budget FY 2005/2006.
