A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE NAMING OF THE BEACH ACCESS LOCATED AT
178TH STREET AND COLLINS AVENUE THE "WALTER
BRESSLOUR BEACH ACCESS" IN HONOR AND
APPRECIATION OF HIS DEDICATION TO THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH; DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER AND/OR HIS/HER DESIGNEE TO PLACE
SIGNAGE COMMENSURATE WITH THIS DISTINCTION
AT SAID BEACH ACCESS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Walter Bresslour was a resident of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, until his
passing in May 2006; and
WHEREAS, Walter Bresslour was a community activist who had a passion for helping
others and was instrumental in acquiring public access to the local beach; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is a better place in which to live, work, and
play, partly due to the efforts of Walter Bresslour; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to honor Walter Bresslour for his work and
efforts for the betterment of the City of Sunny Isles Beach by dedicating the beach access located
at 178th Street and Collins A venue to his memory; and
WHEREAS, henceforth the beach access located at 178th Street and Collins A venue
shall be named and known as the "Walter Bresslour Beach Access," with signage commensurate
with this distinction to be displayed at that location.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Naming of Beach Access. The City Commission hereby designates the beach
access located at 178th Street and Collins A venue the "Walter Bresslour Beach Access," in honor
and appreciation of Walter Bresslour's dedication to the City of SUlmy Isles Beach.
Section 2. Directive to City Manager. The City Commission hereby directs the City
Manager and/or his/her designee to place signage commensurate with this distinction at said
beach access.
Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.

Section 4.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Approval of "Walter Bresslour Beach Access" Designation
At its regular meeting of July 20,2006, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2006-945,
which designated the beach access located at 178111 Street and Collins Avenue the "Walter
Bresslour Beach Access." Attached is a copy of the approving resolution to assist you in
processing this item.
