Home My WebLink AboutReso 2006-960 RESOLUTION NO. 2006- q & 0 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF A 18- P ASSSENGER VAN TO NORD OUEST ENVIRONMENTAL TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL REFOREST A TION PROGRAM IN HAITI; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has retired two (2) of their 18 passenger vans as surplus, after several years of service; and WHEREAS, Nord Ouest Environmental, a non-profit organization with a reforestation program located in the Northwest area of Haiti, has experienced continuing difficulty with implementing its environmental programs in Haiti due to lack of adequate transportation; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to donate one of the vans to Nord Ouest Environmental, a to serve the transportation needs of participating farms working to preserve forests and to plant trees on de-graded land in Haiti; and WHEREAS, specifically, the City Commission proposes the donation of a 1999 Ford Van (VIN# I FDXE40S5XHB78907); and WHEREAS, the City's generosity will make a great impact on the lives of the citizens of Port de Paix, Haiti, and complement the efforts of Nord Ouest Environmental. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Donation of 18- Passenger Van. The City Commission hereby donates an 18-passenger van to Nord Ouest Environmental. Section 2. Authority of the City Manager. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to deliver an I 8-passenger van to Nord Ouest Environmental. The City Manager is authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
