A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE DONATION OF OUTDATED CITY OF SUNNY ISLES
BEACH CELLULAR TELEPHONES TO WOMEN IN
DISTRESS, A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Women in Distress is a non-profit organization that provides shelter and other
assistance to women who are victims of domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, the organization collects phones that are responsibly recycled, with the
proceeds benefiting essential programs at their domestic violence organization; and
WHEREAS, the City has several cellular telephones that are outdated and do not conform to
our current communications system that it wishes to donate to Women in Distress.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Acceptance of Donation, The donation of certain cellular telephones listed on the
attached Exhibit "A" to Women in Distress is hereby approved by the City Commission,
Section 2, Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this resolution,
Section 3,
Effective Date, This Resolution is effective upon passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of December 2006,

Use the prepaid Fed Ex "PRP" ground labels to ship directly to Shelter Alliance. The FedEx telephone # is 888-777-6040.
Please fill out your company information below and include this form with each box shipped (please make copies if you use
more than one box,) Note: 1) Make sure to use a strong box and strong tape, 3) please ship phone and battery only,
and 3) please ship a minimum of 5 phones, Be sure to keep the PRP # for your files. Please make sure all phone

agencies in 50 states and Puerto Rico, and has contributed over $1,700,000 to domestic violence

Donation of City Cellular telephones
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the donation of our old cellular telephones
to the "Women in Distress" organization.
REASONS:
The thirty-one (31) old telephones are outdated, and do not conform to our current wireless
carrier's system. The donation of these old telephones will benefit essential programs at our
local domestic violence organization.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Attached is a list of old City telephones to be donated. Also attached is an information sheet
with further details about this program.
