HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2006-1019 RESOLUTION NO. 2006- JQ1 or A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A FLORIDA COMMUNITIES TRUST GRANT THROUGH ITS FLORIDA FOREVER PROGRAM, FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT FOR PROPERTY ACQUIRED AT 19200 COLLINS A VENUE, FOR OPEN SPACE AND PARK PURPOSES, IN AN AMOUNT OF UP TO NINE MILLION NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($9,900,000.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH RESPECT TO THE OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT MONIES, AS APPROPRIATE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Florida Communities Trust through its Florida Forever Program provides grants to governmental entities for the acquisition ofland for public recreational uses, in an amount of up to Nine Million Nine Hundred Thousand Dollars ($9,900,000,00); and WHEREAS, the City Commission has purchased property for the preservation of open space as park land or environmental significance in the northern portion of the City, located at 19200 Collins A venue for the benefit of its residents and visitors; and WHEREAS, obtainment of a Florida Communities Trust grant would reimburse the City in an amount of up to $9,900,000.00, if awarded, for the acquisition ofthese properties, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authority to Applv For and Accept Grant. The City Manager is authorized to apply for and accept a Florida Communities Trust grant, in an amount of up to $9,900,000.00 for the completed acquisition of property located at 19200 Collins Avenue, for open space and park purposes. Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager.
