A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
ADMINISTRATIVE BUDGET AMENDMENTS FOR FISCAL
YEAR 2006-2007 ADOPTED BUDGET TRANSFERRING
FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000.00) WITHIN THE
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT BUDGET TO HIRE
THREE (3) PART-TIME GENERAL LABORERS;
PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE
AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Chapter 10 of the City Code provides the City Manager with the authority
to administratively approved minor amendments to the budget provided that such transfer is not
more than twenty percent (20%) of the total budget of each department; and
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has requested to hire three (3) part-time
general laborers to clean the parks, beaches and beach access points, and other duties as
requested; and
WHEREAS, Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000,00) was budgeted in Professional Services
based on using a third party contractor, however, the City would be able to provide better service
for no additional cost, and has requested that this amount be transferred as indicated below; and
WHEREAS, while the City Code does not require approval of the City Commission for
minor amendments, the City Manager is seeking the approval of the City Commission for minor
amendments discussed herein.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of the Minor Budget Amendments, The City Commission hereby
approves the following minor budget amendment for the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 adopted budget;

Approval of Budget Amendments for Fiscal Year 2006-2007
At its regular meeting of December 14, 2006, the City Commission adopted Resolution No.
2006-1022, which approved a $50,000.00 budget transfer within the Public Works Department
for fiscal year 2006-2007. Attached is a copy of the approving resolution to assist you in
processing this item.

Budget Amendment Request - Public Works
REASON FOR REQUEST:
The Public Works Department has submitted a Personnel Requisition Form to hire 3 general
laborers to clean the parks, beaches and beach access points; and other duties as requested.
In the 2006-07 budget, $50,000 was budgeted in Professional Services (539-5315) based on using a
third party contractor. However, we feel that the city would be able to provide better service for no
additional cost if we hired part-time employees instead, to work approximately 25 hours/week.
There will not be any net change in the total departmental budget. Based on this, the following
budget transfer is requested.
