HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2006-998 , RESOLUTION NO. 2006-..9..9'2/ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF AN ELGIN STREET SWEEPER FROM MARYLAND INDUSTRIAL TRUCKS, INC., PURSUANT TO A FEDERAL CONTRACT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-SEVEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED ONE DOLLARS ($177,801.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of maintaining the beauty of the City through maintaining its roadways; and WHEREAS, the City's current street sweeper is ten years old, worn out, and breaking down; and WHEREAS, Maryland Industrial Trucks, Inc" administers the current Federal Contract from which the City is allowed to piggyback, and provides top of the line Elgin Street Sweepers that will provide satisfactory service to the City for the next twelve to fifteen years; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase a street sweeper, and Maryland Industrial Trucks, Inc" has submitted a proposal to the City for an Elgin Street Sweeper in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Seventy-Seven Thousand Eight Hundred One Dollars ($177,801.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A", NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I, Approval of Purchase, The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase of an Elgin Street Sweeper from Maryland Industrial Trucks, Inc., pursuant to Federal Contract GS- 30F-1012H, in a total amount not to exceed One Hundred Seventy-Seven Thousand Eight Hundred One Dollars ($177,801.00), as quoted on the proposal attached hereto as Exhibit "A". REASONS: Our current sweeper is ten years old and worn out. It recently blew a rod through the engine. This new piece of equipment is considered to be top of the line and we can expect satisfactory service for the next twelve to fifteen years. When service is required, the Elgin shop is located in SW Broward for a fast and easy turnaround. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This purchase is being made through Maryland Industrial Trucks, Inc., who administers the current Federal Contract from which we are allowed to piggy back That contract number is GS-30F- 1012H..
