A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
ACCEPTING THE RESIGNATION OF CHAIRPERSON
DIONE DEL MONICO AND APPOINTING BUD SCHOLL
AS CHAIRPERSON OF THE HISTORIC
PRESERVATION BOARD, ATTACHED AS EXHIBIT
"A"; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission created the Historic Preservation Board through
Ordinance No. 2004 -197 adopted on April 15, 2004, providing for standards and review for the
preservation of historical properties within the City, and through Ordinance No. 2004 -214
adopted on September 22, 2004 adding two additional members to the Board; and
WHEREAS, Chairperson Dione Del Monico has found it difficult to serve on the Board
as she is out of town much of the time and as such, has tendered her resignation; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Edelcup has appointed Bud Scholl as Chairperson to fill the
remainder of Dione Del Monico's two -year term, attached as Exhibit "A ".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Acceptance of Resi ng ation. The City Commission hereby accepts the resignation
of Dione Del Monico from the Board.
Section 2. Approval of Appointment to the Historic Preservation Board. The City
Commission hereby approves the appointment of Bud Scholl as Chairperson to the Board,
attached as Exhibit "A ".
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
PASSED and ADOPTED on this 19tb day of October, 2006.

Lewis J. Thaler Congratulations! At its regular meeting of October 19, 2006, the City Commission
Commissioner adopted Resolution No. 2006 -1000, which appointed you as the Chairperson of the
Sunny Isles Beach Historic Preservation Board. Please be advised that Board
City Manager John Szerlag Members are governed by the Rules of Procedure that govern the City Commission;

Ordinance No(s). 2004 -197 and 2004 -214; and the Sunshine and Public Records Laws
City Attorney Hans orney t and Financial Disclosure Requirements of the State of Florida. Attached are copies of
Jane A. Hines the affecting Sunny Isles Beach legislation and information on Sunshine and Public
City Clerk Records Laws for your reference.
The Board meets periodically and ordinarily, the agenda is mailed to you one week
before the meeting. Board Members who miss three (3) consecutive meetings may be
removed from office. Therefore, if you are unable to attend a meeting, please call
Jane A. Hines, CMC, City Clerk, so that it can be considered an excused absence.
Board appointments are for a two -year term and may be renewed as often as desired.
If you wish to accept this appointment, please complete the attached Statement of
Financial Interests and return it to me by November 1, 2006. If you wish to decline
this appointment, please indicate so on this letter and return it to me by November 1,
2006.

It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution accepting the
resignation of Chairperson Dione Del Monico and appointing Bud Scholl as Chairperson to the
Historic Preservation Board.
REASONS:
Chairperson Dione Del Monico has found it very difficult to serve on the Historic Preservation
Board as she is out of town much of the time and as such, has tendered her resignation from the
Board. Bud Scholl is an outstanding resident of this City and husband to Dione Del Monico, and
has accepted my appointment as Chairperson of this Board to fill the remainder of Dione's two -
year term. Bud Scholl's knowledge regarding historic preservation will be an asset to this most
worthwhile Board.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Bud Scholl and Dione Del Monico's home, The Water Court and Pergola, is architecturally
significant for its Mediterranean style. On January 19, 1984 the Miami -Dade County Historic
Preservation Board designated their home as an historic site, and the City of Sunny Isles Beach
re- designated it as an historic site on June 6, 2005.
