HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2007-1033 RESOLUTION NO, 2007-J..Q33 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROYING A PROPOSAL FROM VERIZON WIRELESS, BASED ON THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH IN STATE CONTRACT #MA4974, TO PROVIDE WIRELESS BROADBAND ACCESS FOR DATA CONNECTIVITY BETWEEN THE POLICE COMMUNICATIONS CENTER AND THE POLICE VEHICLES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($35,0000,00) ANNUALLY, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING THAT THE AGREEMENT IS APPROVED AS TO FORM AND LEGAL SUFFICIENCY BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department is now starting Phase III (Mobile Data) of its implementation of a Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, and Mobile Data System; and WHEREAS, there is a need to retain a reliable wireless data provider to provide a secure connection between our Police vehicles, Police Records Unit and Police Communications Center for the purpose of data communications and transfer of criminal justice information; and WHEREAS, City staff has researched and tested various wireless providers; and WHEREAS, Verizon Wireless was found to be the most suitable for the needs of the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department; and WHEREAS, Verizon Wireless has submitted a proposal to provide fifty-two (52) Sierra Wireless AC595 Air Cards and a monthly subscription for connectivity of 52 mobile terminals, in a total amount not to exceed Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00) annually, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. Approval of Proposal. The Proposal submitted by Verizon Wireless to provide fifty-two (52) Sierra Wireless AC595 Air Cards and a monthly subscription for connectivity of 52 mobile terminals at a total cost not to exceed Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00) annually, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", be and the same, is hereby approved. Grandinetti, Police Captain Derrick Arias, Information Technology Director January 18, 2007 Authorization to enter into an agreement with Verizon Wireless to provide Wireless Broadband Access for Data Connectivity between the Police Communications Center and the Police Vehicles at a cost not to exceed $35,000 annually. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Verizon Wireless to provide Wireless Broadband Access for Data Connectivity between the Sunny Isles Beach Police Communications Center, Records Unit and the Police Vehicles. REASONS: As the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department starts phase III (Mobile Data) of its implementation of a Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, and Mobile Data System, there is a need to enter into an agreement with a reliable wireless data provider to provide a secure connection between our police vehicles, police records unit and our police communications center for the purpose of data communications and transfer of criminal justice information. Staff as researched and tested other wireless providers and has found Verizon Wireless to be the most suitable for the needs of the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. Staff has requested and received a quote from Verizon Wireless under the State of Florida Contract # MA4974 for the purchase of fifty-two (52) Sierra Wireless AC595 Air Cards and a monthly subscription for connectivity of 52 mobile terminals at a total cost not to exceed Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00) annually.
