A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO FACILITATE THE
COMPLETION OF A LANDSCAPING DESIGN PLAN FOR
THE SUNNY ISLES BEACH GOVERNMENT CENTER
ENTRANCEWAY, BASED UPON PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS
AND INPUT OF THE CITY COMMISSION; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission has expresscd its desire to beautify the SUlmy Isles Beach
Government Center entranceway; and
WHEREAS, as such staff obtained proposals for said beautification project from the City's
three (3) qualified landscaping consultants: O'LeatY Richards Design Associates, Inc.; EDA W, Inc.;
and Calvin Giordano and Associates; and
WHEREAS, the proposals were presented for City Commission consideration at City
Commission meeting of March 15,2007; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission noted that it already has some schematic plans from
O'Leaty Richards Design for that area, though those plans do not fully capture the Commission's
thoughts and wishes for the area; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission authorized the City Manager to come up with plantings
for the area, using his discretion and the previous input and discussions of the City Commission.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization ofCitv Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to facilitate
the completion of a landscaping design plan for Sunny Isles Beach Government Center entranceway,
based on the previous input and discussion of the City Commission.
Section 2. Further Authorization of Citv Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do
all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
Section 3.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this Islh day of March 2007.

Dear Mr. Kamber:
The above agreement for purchase and installation of playground equipment and related items
for the Town Center Park is scheduled for City Commission consideration on March 15,2007.
City policy requires agreements to be signed by the vendor before Commission consideration.
As such, we have enclosed three (3) original agreements for signature by you and two witnesses.
Upon completion, please return all three (3) original agreements to my attention by Thursday,
March 15, 2007. After approval by the City Commission, we will then finalize processing of the
agreements and return an original, executed agreement and a copy of the approving resolution to
you.

APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT WIlli KooL PLAYGROUNDS FOR 1HE
PURG-IASE AND INSTALLATION OF SWINGS AND SAFETY SURFAONG
AT TOWN CENTER PARK
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Gty Commission adopt the attached Resolution to approve an
agreement with Kool Playgrounds for purchase and installation of swings and ADA compliant
safety surfacing at Town Center Park in the amount not to exceed Nineteen Thousand, Five
Hundred, Thirteen Dollars and Sixty One Cents ($19,513.61).
REASONS
The Town Center Park was turned over to the Gtyon October 21,2005. As such, the park is the
Gty's responsibility. Park patrons have approached Elected Officials and Gty staff to request the
installation of swings in the park. The proposed package includes two separate swing structures, one
for ages 2 - 4 and one for ages 5 - 12 with ADA compliant safety surfacing as attached. This
improvement will enhance the experience of park patrons.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This agreement with Kool Playgrounds is a piggyback on the V olusia County School Board Bid #
PL-731P, dated 1/ 16/07. Funds for this purchase are available in the Capital Fund account
20.600.5648. Additionally, the Gty received three quotes from various vendors for this purchase
and installation in which Kool Playgrounds provided the lowest bid.

Landscape Design Plan for Government Center
At its regular meeting of March 15,2007, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2007-
1065, which authorized the City Manager to facilitate the completion of a landscape design plan
for the Government Center area. Attached is a copy of the approving resolution to assist you in
