A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A DONATION IN AN AMOUNT OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($5,000.00) FROM SUNFLOWER SOCIETY TO SPONSOR CHILDREN
TO ATTEND THE CITY SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAM;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach provides a fee for service summer day camp
program; and
WHEREAS, Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization that wishes to provide
financial assistance to families that would otherwise not be able to attend the city's day camp
program due to financial constraints; and
WHEREAS, there are families in need of this financial assistance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Acceptance. The City Commission hereby approves the acceptance
of the donation from Sunflower Society in an amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) to
pay for the summer camp fees of families in need of financial assistance.
Section 2. Authoritv of Citv Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of April 2007.

At its regular meeting of April 19, 2007, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2007-
1090, which accepted a $5,000 donation from the Sunflower Society for the City's Summer
Camp Program. Attached is a copy of the approving resolution to assist you in processing this
item.

RECOM:MENDATION:
It is recommended that the Gty Commission adopt the attached resolution to approve the
acceptance of a donation in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) from Sunflower
Society to sponsor summer day camp participants.
REASONS:
Our summer camp is a fee for service program. Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization that
wishes to provide financial assistance to families that would otherwise not be able to attend the ciris
day camp program due to financial limitations. There is an application process that all applicants
must complete with Sunflower Society making the final determination on all scholarships.
