Home My WebLink AboutReso 2007-1095 RESOLUTION NO. 2007-JirlS A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE GREATER FORT LAUDERDALE SISTER CITIES INTERNATIONAL, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00), FOR THE SISTER CITIES ANNUAL CONFERENCE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting various social services programs of interest and benefit to its residents and fellow man; and WHEREAS, sister city relationships are developed to increase global cooperation at the municipal level, promoting cultural understanding and stimulating economic development; and WHEREAS, Sister Cities International based in Washington, D.C., is the organization that formally recognizes sister city relationships worldwide; and WHEREAS, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International, Inc. is holding a Mayor's Reception at the Sister Cities Annual Conference to be held on Thursday, July 19,2007 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts; and WHEREAS, this would be a great opportunity to showcase the City of Sunny Isles Beach, as there will be delegates from all over the world in attendance; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to demonstrate its support by making a charitable contribution to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International, Inc., in an amount of One Thollsand Dollars ($1,000.00). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization of Charitable Contribution. The City Commission hereby authorizes a charitable contribution to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International, Inc., in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00). Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This program intends to promote cultural understanding and stimulate economic development. The City wishes to demonstrate its continuing support of Sister Cities International by adopting this resolution approving a charitable contribution in the amount of$l,OOO to underwrite the Mayor's Reception at the Sister Cities Annual Conference in Fort Lauderdale in July 2007.
