Home My WebLink AboutReso 2007-1108 RESOLUTION NO. 2007 --1.1..Qj A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWENTY-FOUR (24) PARK-TYPE BENCHES AND TRASH RECEPTACLES FROM REP SERVICES, INC., IN A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FORTY THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED EIGHTY-SEVEN DOLLARS AND FORTY-SIX CENTS ($40,687.46), AS QUOTED AND ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is in need of replacing some of the existing benches and trash receptacles for the benefit and welfare of its citizens and visitors; and WHEREAS, the City Commission approved the purchase and installation of bus benches and trash receptacles from Rep Services, Inc., via Resolution No. 2003-613 on November 20, 2003, and via Resolution No. 2004-659 on April 15, 2004, are satisfied with Rep Services, Inc., services; and WHEREAS, Rep Services, Inc. under the City of Jacksonville Contract No. SC-05II-06, provided a quote for the purchase of twenty-four (24) additional park-like benches and trash receptacles, in an amount of Forty Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-Seven Dollars and Forty-Six Cents ($40,687.46); and WHEREAS, these site amenities will greatly enhance the look of our City streets and eliminate the potential hazard the deteriorating benches may cause, and in conjunction with that effort the City wishes to purchase from Rep Services, Inc., 24 new park-like benches and trash receptacles, in an amount of $40,687.46, attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, the City's procurement codes provides that purchases made under state, county or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with other governmental agencies are exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures; and WHEREAS, the City desires to purchase said park-like benches and trash receptacles from Rep Services, Inc. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization of Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase of twenty-four (24) park-like benches and trash receptacles from Rep Services, Inc., in a total amount not to exceed Forty Thousand Six Hundred Eighty-Seven Dollars and Forty-Six Cents ($40,687.46), as quoted and attached hereto as Exhibit "A", pursuant'to City of Jacksonville R2007- Benches & Trash Receptables Purchase From Rep Srvs.Doc Page 1 of2 Contract No. SC-0511-06. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. These would be the same make and model as the existing units from Rep Services, Inc., the supplier under the City of Jacksonville contract (contract number SC-0511-06). We will obtain the City Seal from another supplier and mount them ourselves. The total price is not to exceed $40,687.46. BACKGROUND: We have been installing these benches and trash receptacles in town and they have been very popular. We only have a couple left in stock and would like to continue placing them throughout the community. The primary locations for these additional benches will be adjacent to the new bus shelters we are installing. We are therefore asking your permission to purchase additional units.
