A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
PURCHASE OF TWELVE (12) HANDHELD 1'7150 POLICE
RADIOS AND ASSOCIATED ACCESSORIES, IN THE
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY-NINE THOUSAND SIX
HUNDRED EIGHTEEN DOLLARS ($39,618.00), ATTACHED
HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has only replaced a minimal
number of handheld police radios over the past nine (9) years; and
WHEREAS, with the increasing number of malfunctions and repair cost of these original
radios, and to assure the safety and leliability of this important lifeline equipment issued to our
officers, these twelve (12) radios would be used to replace several of the older and
malfunctioning radios; and
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County, Enterprise Technology Services Department, under
the Miami Dade County Contract# 195-14, provided a quote for the purchase of twelve (12)
handheld 1'7150 Police radios and associated accessories in the amount not to exceed Thirty-Nine
Thousand Six Hundred Eighteen Dollars ($39,618.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the City's procurement codes provides that purchases made under state,
county or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with other governmental agencies are
exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to purchase said handheld radios and associated accessories
from Miami-Dade County, Enterprise Technology Services Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Approving the Purchase. The purchase of twelve (12) handheld P7150 Police
radios and associated accessories for the Police Department, in the amount not to exceed
$39,618.00, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", be, and the same, is hereby approved.
Section 2. Authorization of Citv Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of June 2007.

Approval of Purchase of Police Radios and Accessories
At its regular meeting of June 21, 2007, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2007-
1119, which approved the purchase of police radios and accessories. Attached is a copy of the
approving resolution to assist you in processing this item.

Approval to Purchase Twelve (12) Handheld P7150 Police Radios and
associated accessories not to exceed $39,618.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City
Manager to purchase twelve (12) Handheld P7150 Police Radios and associated accessories not
to exceed $39,618.00.
REASONS:
The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has only replaced a minimal number of our handheld
police radios over the past nine years. With the increasing number of malfunctions and repair
cost of these original radios, and to assure the safety and reliability of this important lifeline
equipment issued to our officers, these twelve (12) radios would be used to replace several of the
older and malfunctioning radios. These radios would be purchased from the Miami-Dade
County, Enterprise Technology Services Department, piggybacking the Miami Dade County
Contract# 195-14. Purchasing these radios through Miami-Dade County would be the most cost
effective method being that Miami-Dade County purchases directly through M/A-Com, Inc. (GE
Ericsson, Inc.) and receives a 37% discount. Miami-Dade County also provides the programming
for all radios on their system.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Funding for the above radios and associated equipment were budgeted and are available under
General Fund, Capital Expenditures - Radios.
