A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT
ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (FRDAP) GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY,
FOR THE ACQUISITION OF PARK PROPERTY LOCATED AT 500 SUNNY
ISLES BOULEVARD, IN AN AMOUNT OF TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($200,000.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE
ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH RESPECT TO THE
OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT MONIES, AS
APPROPRIATE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) provides
grants to governmental entities for the acquisition or development of land for public recreational
uses, in an amount of up to $200,000 (based on the project cost); and
WHEREAS, on November 16, 2006 via Resolution No. 2006-1010, the City Commission
approved the purchase of approximately 0.83 acres of real property located at 500 Sunny Isles
Boulevard for open space/park purposes for residents and visitors of Sunny Isles Beach; and
WHEREAS, obtainment of a FRDAP grant would reimburse the City in an amount of Two
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00), if awarded; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of applying for grant money for the
reimbursement ofthe acquisition of the property.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authority to Apply For and Accept Grant. The City Manager is authorized to apply
for and accept a FRDAP grant, in an amount of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) for
the acquisition of the property for park land located at 500 Sunny Isles Boulevard.
Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is authorized to take any and
all action necessary with respect to the obtaining and distribution of grant monies, as appropriate.
Section 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of August 2007.

Approval of Florida Recreation Assistance Development Grant for $200,000
At its regular meeting of August 20, 2007, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2007-
1142, which authorized staff to apply for, accept, and expend funds from a Florida Recreation
Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) Grant for the acquisition of park property at 500
Sunny Isles Boulevard. Attached is a copy of the approving resolution to assist you in
processing this item.

OF PROPERTY ACQUISITION FOR 500 SUNNY ISLES BOULEVARD
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to take the necessary steps to
apply for reimbursement for part of the cost of acquiring the park property at 500 Sunny Isles
Boulevard.
BACKGROUND:
This application is for the 2008 grant year. The anticipated grant amount is $200,000.
